Staff includes 3 permanent teachers, one being the HT, HT Support 0.4, Classroom Assistant 1.0, Early Childcare Practioner 0.8, Support for Learning Assistant 0.4, Secretary 1.0, Learning Support 0.1. Another teacher takes P.1-2 on a Friday.

Half a Day = 0.1    Full week = 1.0

 Currently the school cannot take any more pupils from P.3-7 from outside the catchment area.

Location

The school is situated on the B9099 about half a mile outside Murthly on the Murthly - Perth Road.

It has extensive school grounds and is surrounded on three sides by a forestry estate and across the main road a farmer's field.

The Building

The school now has a new extension which houses the P.1/2 class combined with the Nursery. This unit has toilets for the younger children. The office is situated in this extension.

The older part of the buidling comprises of two classrooms, a hall which is used for Dining, PE, music and drama.

There is also a staff/parent room and a new library which we have been able to create after the new building was completed.

Upstairs of the school is used for storage.

We have extensive playing area comprising of tarmac and grass. There is a active play area and the children have access to exercise machines, table football and an electronic basket ball game. We have a shed which is used by the children for art activities during breaks. There is a small garden area for growing plants such as vegetables. We are also continuing to develop the school grounds. Two units outside exist for storage.

Below is our set of a new draft for our Vision, Aims and Values. These were compiled after work with parents, staff and children from P.3-7.

VISION

‘To create an effective and happy school’ by

  • Providing quality teaching and learning experiences within a flexible and futures based curriculum that challenges all pupils.
  • Maintaining and developing a positive school ethos in which success is celebrated and which values and respects everyone’s contribution.
  • The development of an effective partnership between the school, home and community that seeks to ensure the best educational and social outcome for all students.

 

The aims of the school are as follows: -

           To challenge the children within a contextualized curriculum, that encourages and develops a desire to learn now and through life.

           To continually seek ways challenge and raise standards of attainment of all pupils in the school.

           To provide a safe, secure and friendly environment where everyone’s contribution is valued.

           To support and meet the needs of all pupils in both their Learning and Personal and Social Development.

           To continue to take the school forward by using self-evaluation and Quality Assurance procedures.

           To provide opportunities to develop self confidence, social skills and moral values.

           To maintain and extend a positive ethos within the school and continue to develop partnerships with the Home   and Community.
