CHILDREN IN NEED

The children would like to do something for this but it occurs on In-Set Day 20th November. It is likely that we will do our event on the 27th. The School Council will try to gather ideas.

EARLY YEARS FUND RAISING

The recent sponsored walk has so far taken in £303. We would like to thank the castle for allowing us to use their grounds allowing the walk to take place in a safe environment. A photo of the group appeared in the latest edition of the Perthshire Advertiser. There will soon be a Coffee Morning and toy sale, as well as a Christmas hamper to help in gathering funds for a summer house. It should be noted that this resource will be used by all early year’s children e.g. P1-2.

FUN IN ATHLETICS

Due to costs we have decided not to take part in this event.

FINANCE

For your information we have recently received the following donations:

Shell –£250.00 (For purpose of buying track suits)

Travel to School - £200 (This will be used to purchase pedometers and a supply of high visibility jackets

Foneclub – £32.50 (For old mobiles)

Student Support Group - £100 (For parents returning forms to the company)

Ragbag - £47.10

HEALTH GROUP

We had a good turn out of parents and children who have volunteered to be involved in taking health development forward in the school. Many thanks for getting involved and doing extra work after school. Unfortunately Miss Efthymiou is on a course next Tuesday (10th November) so the next meeting will have to be postponed until Tuesday 17th November.

HEART START TRAINING

A few months ago we asked if you would be keen to sign up to this training which could help save a life. We have managed to get Mrs Helen Brady of NHS to come to the school at 3.15pm on the 30th November. Many of you indicated that you would be willing to undertake the training and hopefully this may still be the case. If you would like to take part please complete the attached slip.

NORTHERN LIGHTS PROJECT

Mr. Cowan, co-ordinator of the project linking schools in Scotland with those in Norway visited the school last week. He was delighted to see the enthusiasm of the children and the ideas they had for the project.

NURSERY

The Nursery now has 10 children attending and is therefore now full. However we have also had 3 other requests for a place which we have had to unfortunately turn down. I have also had an e-mail from a family who may be moving to the village with three potential pupils for the school.

PARENT COUNCIL

The next meeting of the Council will take place on Thursday 12th November commencing at 6.30pm. I will not be at the meeting but Miss Efthymiou will represent the school. If you have any items for the agenda please let Mr Clow or ourselves in school know. It is important should we need to find data or information for any item.

PARENT INTERVIEWS

We had a great turn out for this and we managed to stick pretty close to our timetable. Hopefully it was a positive experience for you and allows you to know what the next steps are for your child’s education and development.

PARENT PLANS

Please add any successes your child has had out with school when you return the parent slip. We really want the children to celebrate and record these successes.

SCHOOL COUNCIL

Just for your information here is what the children placed on the agenda of their recent Council meeting.

Taps and broken toilets.

Fund raising

Prefects and how it’s going.

Refreshments at Council meetings.

SHOE BOX APPEAL

Leaflets regarding this were sent home a few weeks ago. We hope some of you will be able to support this cause. May I remind you that any shoe boxes being donated are handed into the school by Friday 6th November. Thanks to those of you who have already handed in a box.

UNDER FIVES GROUP

This has been going very well and growing quickly. There seems to be a new face every week. The group was delighted to get funding from the Council for a hut which allows them to store their equipment and not impinge on the space in school. Laura and myself pop along at break times when we can to say hi for 5 minutes and give the parents any ideas or support if asked for. Due to our other commitments we can not spend any more time than that with the children and parents.

WEAR PINK DAY

This raised in total £77.00.

WINTER CLOTHING

We are trying to insist that children wrap up warmly before going out to play at break times. There seems to be a lot of bugs around at the moment and although for some of you it may be a battle to get your child to bring a coat to school we have asked all children to have appropriate clothing for the winter.
